Our oldest granddaughter McKayla Anderson turned eight today. She's going to be baptized in two weeks. She had a party yesterday and her mom will blog about that the next time she comes over here and can use our computer. Hers isn't fast enough. Here are a few pictures I took this afternoon when we took her present over to her.

Circus
Well on Saturday we went to the Circus. Here are the Tigers. The tiger on the left top kept roaring and trying to swipe at the guy.
We had a lot of fun. The Wilson's went with us and the kids were thrilled with the show. They had horses, elephants, tigers, dogs and clowns.
This is Bello and the girl he is trying to impress. They are eye level with the top floor of the Verizon Center.
This is Brandon's reaction to them being so high up (the little red spot on his cheek is from ice skating that morning).
Elise, Kaitlyn and Brandon.
Elephants, elephants and more elephants.
Wow!!!!!

Whitney Awards
Last Saturday night was the big Whitney gala. That's kind of like the Oscars for LDS writers. Everyone dressed up, the food was great, and it was neat to be honored along with Dean Hughes and Anita Stansfield. We each received a pyramid shaped trophy engraved with our names and the date. We each also got a book that when opened is hollowed out and filled with treasures; a bookmark, lotion, bath gel, and a $50.00 gift card to the Cheesecake Factory. I sat with my managing editor, Toni Sorenson Brown, Michele Bell, Betsy Green and her aunt, and Matthew Buckley. It was a fun table. The people in the picture are me, Dean Hughes, and Anita Stansfield
I wasn't enthused about any of the category winners, but I trust there will be better nominations and choices next year. There was one young adult writer who was really silly and rude; she detracted from the pleasure for a lot of people, but overall the evening was great. After the gala, the V-formation group I belong to all met at Michele Bell's house and we had a blast. Kerry Blair brought us each a little stuffed goose and we signed each other's cases and ate more stuff.
2008 Easter Egg Roll at the White House
Hello all,
Here we are at the White House for the Easter Egg Roll. The egg roll was first but for some reason when I attached it - it went to the bottom of the blog.
Here they are coloring the hats.
The Jonas Brothers!!!!!!! (the one in yellow and the other two guys to his right).
Brandon and his friend Kaitlyn checking out sea life.
The crowds in front of the White House.

Easter Bunny Vs. The tooth fairy
Ever wondered what would happen if the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy had to come the same night? Alena lost a tooth the day before Easter (Yeah! Another one we don't have to get pulled by the dentist). The tooth fairy and the bunny must have collided during the night because the tooth fairy left the money for Alena's tooth in an easter egg! If you heard high pitched giggling Easter morning - that's why. Alena claims the Easter Bunny scratched her too. She did have a scratch so perhaps the collision took place in Alena's room. If you're wondering why she didn't wake up, you must understand that she is a very heavy sleeper. The tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny could have held a war on her bed and she'd never know (except for the scratch, of course).
I would post pictures but the camera is in the other room and I really don't want to work in there with the tv going. I think I've seen Mr. Magorium's wonder imporium enough times. I look forward to returning it to the library. It doesn't really matter because Sharon kindly posted pictures of my kids in her blog. Mine are the small ones. The pink flowers did wash off of Alena's face :).

Posting from the Rich's
Today my mom is going to the 2007 Whitney Awards and will be given the "Lifetime Achievement Award". Congrats Mom, be sure to post and tell us how it went.
On Thursday the Rich's went to the "local hospital" and had an Easter Egg Hunt. Here is a picture of Brandon with his basket full of eggs. Along the way we ran into the Easter Bunny and she helped us find more eggs.
Just want to wish everyone a happy Easter!
Love the Rich's

Welcome
I thought we could try something new. I thought a great way for everyone to keep in touch would be this blog. I would like everyone to feel free to blog about your family just to let everyone know what's going on in your lives. I (MaryJo) will manage the page but feel free to send me an e-mail if you would like something added or deleted. Anyone in the family can post a blog.
