Brandon and Elmo

Today Brandon got a treat, he got to meet Elmo. The first picture is Brandon holding a toy Elmo that all the kids received - thank you :)
The second picture is Brandon hugging Elmo. That's all Brandon wanted to do was give Elmo a hug (until we left and then he wanted to sit down and talk to Elmo... sigh).

This is Elmo talking to Brandon.

And a hug good bye. It was all very sweet. After we left Elmo we visited Arlington Cemetery. I will post those pics another time.

Caltonkitty

Janice can't post for some reason and this is my third try to post for her.

Calton's favorite game is playing kitty. So he has to "nap" on the back of the couch like the cat does

Just a Regular Day

I bought a package of balloons for an upcoming activity for a Cub Scout Pack meeting. And before I knew what was coming, my children had promptly opened the package and started a balloon war! I now have balloons scattered all over the family room. (They claimed they were practicing tying the balloons off.) I also discovered that I have forgotten how to tie the wretched things. (Sorry Jo.) And Chris won his track meet with a time of 2:07 in the 800. Yay!

Going to the Prom :)

Aunt MarJean sent these pics to me. This one is Lori and Madisons Date.
Girls, girls, girls Don't they just look georgous!

A few Smith pix

MarJean sent some pictures today of her granddaughter, Wendy and Levi's little girls. I thought you might like to see them. And last week I got pictures of two of Vic's grandkids. Katie and Jeff were in DC visiting Sara and Trent.

Maybe Spring is finally here

We worked in our garden today. Boyd got his potatoes and onions planted and I sprayed weeds and fertilized my flowers. Janice and boys stopped in for a few minutes. I took a couple of pictures of them with our few spring flowers.

My little men

Connor and Jayden like to do whatever Dad does. When Daddy shaves; that's what they "need" to do as well. BTW it's a play razor--no blade!

McKayla's big day

As Mom said McKayla was baptized last Saturday. Steve and I are very proud of her and her decision to be baptized. She also got her ears pierced a week before. She's growing up pretty fast.

Luma and Squirrels

We have squirrels in our backyard and our dog loves to chase them (she never catches them). I believe she thinks they are giant rats with fluffy tails. They drive her nuts flicking their tails at her and then running up a tree. After she has "treed" one she just waits at the base not knowing that the squirrel has jumped to anther tree and is long gone by now. She knows that they go up the tree and then disappear... It's fun to say "squirrel" and see her take off.

Kayla's Baptism

McKayla was baptized today. There was a very nice program with her aunts playing the piano and her cousin Chris was one of the speakers. Afterward we went to Steve and Lezlie's house for brunch. It was yummy. It's been awhile since all (except Mary Jo and her family) have been together and we enjoyed seeing Steve's family again. My pictures didn't turn out well, but I did get one fairly good one of Steve and McKayla just before the service started.

McKayla was so pretty in her white dress, but none of the pictures of her in her dress turned out. I guess I'll have to get some from Lezlie.

What's Been Happening

Chris had 3 track meets last week. And in one of the meets he earned the bronze for the 1600 meters and a bronze in the 800 meters sprint medley relay. YAY, go Chris. His goal this year is to make state. Chris found out yesterday that he tied for 13th place of all juniors in the State Math competition.
Dave is considering going to the same charter school Chris is in. We turned in his papers last week.
Nathan's class just finished doing a Shakespeare play called "Comedy of Errors" & a "Punch and Judy" puppet play. Nathan helped make the scenery. It was awesome. Too bad the pictures didn't turn out.
Rob and I are almost done with our taxes. Yarggg! And it's spring and I'm ready for gardening!

Bye bye diapers

Calton is a big boy now! No more diapers! Alena has learned to read and Spencer finished his homework before he had to go to bed!

I'd post pictures but my computer isn't cooperating.
(Ha ha, Lezlie. My blog is shorter.)

Cherry Blossom Festival Pt 2

So here are the Cherry Trees surrounding the Tidal Basin.
My boys
They had a Jr Ranger area for the kids. Brandon made this Cherry Blossom picture out of pink and green tissue paper. He is such a good artist.

This is Jefferson Memorial on the Tidal Basin surrounded by Cherry Trees.
Laughing - when we got home Brandon told me he didn't see any "popcorn" on the trees. lol

I finally made it

Here I am. Sharon emailed me an invitation to gmail adding to the already heavy pressure by my mother and another unnamed, yet older, sister. There I'm done. Bye.

Just kidding. My daughter McKayla had her eighth birthday last Sunday and her birthday party with her friends last Friday. They ate pizza, made a "book," watched High School Musical the concert and sang karaoke. It was very loud around here for three hours but they had fun. I'd add pictures but my dial up and the firewalls prevent that (and add to my insanity.) Have a great day!

National Cherry Blossom Festival 2008 pt 1

It's cold here in D.C. but we made our way to the cherry trees. The cherry trees go all the way around the Tital Basin and around the Washington Monument.
Here is a picture of a Beautiful tulip.
Here is the Washington Monument. Looking at the sky it looks like it's going to rain any minute.
Here is a gorgeous picture of the blossoms.
The pictures are a little out of order but when we were looking at the tulips I took a picture of Rich and Brandon with some yellow tulips. I have more pictures that I will post later.

The way we were

If I can make it work, here's a few pictures from the Hansen/Helm files. We really would like to see and read more about the Helm side of this blog.

Oh how they've changed

Another look back

Where are the Helms?

Since we're not seeing much action from the Helm portion of this blog, I decided to post a blast from the past.
